The Healing Womb
an art installation by Annabel Du Boulay
The Miracles Room, Glastonbury Experience Courtyard, Glastonbury BA6 9DU
31 July – 5 August 2012
Annabel Du Boulay’s debut art installation will feature four large acrylic paintings depicting the different aspects of the archetype of the Mother. Each painting will reflect the relevant wounding of women associated with that archetypal energy. Weaving mythology together with the personal stories of women she is interviewing, Annabel’s intention is to create a sacred space where women can journey with their grief and find healing.
Mother of Loss – abortion, miscarriage, still-birth, loss of a child, loss of the mother
Mother of Solitude – infertility and childlessness
Mother of Healing – ill/disabled child and/or mother
Mother of Compassion – mothering children, caring for the mother, mothering in the community
Prints of the paintings will be available to view and buy on this website in August 2012, after which time it is hoped that the art installation will tour around the UK and abroad. If your organisation is interested in hosting the art installation, please contact us on 01823 457419 or alternatively please send us an email.

Wow! How wonderfully inspiring! Well done!
I am an art student at the University of South Africa and will do an installation on infertility that was borne from my own struggle with falling pregnant ten years ago. I am going to build 4 rooms depicting the obsession and sterility around the fertility nightmare.
Would appreciate any input
Dear Estelle
Thank you so much for your comment. I am so sorry to hear of your struggles with your fertility but very inspired to hear about your creative project, which I hope will prove to be very healing for you. My inspiration as an artist stems from my personal experience, from listening to other women’s stories, and from weaving these with ancient mythology, archetypes and symbols. Maybe you could similarly use ancient African mythologies in your work. And I would recommend doing some guided visualisation to enable your unconscious to express itself to you through archetypal symbols, which you can then use in your art work.
I wish you many blessings on your healing and creative journey.
